Good Morning

AS I sit in the office the sun beans through my window and warms my chair, it’s chilly this November morning. All the hoopla of the election is over; there is celebration in some quarters, and the gnashing of teeth in others. Its quiet outside, it’s quiet in the office. Earlier this month we’d of had dozens of people stop in by now!  

This quiet time allows me time to reflect on the days to come for the Republican Party. We believe that good government, like a house, is best built on a good foundation rather than sand, or swamp. A good foundation is necessary for the house to stand up to the test of time. Like a house, we believe good government begins here, at the local level, providing a solid base on which to build good Government. 

We’ve worked hard, put in a lot of time and effort these past few months, but what is ahead of us? We must get ready for the mid-term election in 2026! We’ve a new president taking the reins in January; we can expect push back from some of the entrenched bureaucrats but what about us? Can we expect push back against us as well? Not since the Revolutionary and Civil wars, has our country been so divided against one another. We have long been under attack from without and within. We will learn to recognize and combat those efforts to divide us.

We will have a new County Party to fill, new Executive committee officers to elect in December, A new coalition to build here in Lenawee County. We must win back the support and respect of our communities, cities and our fellow citizens. There is a lot more to do than just pick a few people to work the party proper in Lenawee County. 

We’ve a solid plan for the party in Lenawee County. We will begin with educating our Precinct Delegates, and hopefully, our Constituents as well, in the trappings of local government and in doing so, hope to get people involved, not only in our party, but in local government as well.

Our bylaws require we seat a committee of 9 Captains, one for each of the 9 districts in Lenawee County. These Captains responsibilities will be to work within their respective districts with the City and Township precincts delegates to educate the PDs and help them with the precincts within their townships and cities or town. They will lead and encourage their respective elected Precinct Delegates and community members to attend the meeting and functions of the city, Township, and School board meetings of their district. We also intend to focus on our outlying communities! We will move events to different locations around Lenawee County to better serve and represent the overall communities of Lenawee County

The party’s responsibilities also include getting our good candidates elected to office. When a candidate requests assistance for their campaign, we will help them raise funds, organize, plan and assist them to our utmost ability. Those things need to be commenced as soon as possible to give us the best chances to Win and bring our efforts to fruition in 2026. 

To cover the cost of the county party’s expenses and campaign strategy, our County Party is responsible for raising money for itself. The county party also has tithing obligations to the 5th District, and State Committees.  These obligations have gone unanswered for reasons which will not be enumerated here.  The economy and inflation have eroded everyone’s ability to afford our functions. We intend to host funds raising events, to help maintain our party and its efforts in Lenawee County. You will not see the lavish galas of the past but rather small gatherings that hopefully bring people together to focus and form bonds and mutual interests and goals. 

I hope that this new-year, 2025, brings renewed interest in our Communities and Cities. Interest in ridding ourselves of the derision that has been propagated against us by others who would see this our nation fall into the same squabbling, corruptible, places of lost souls and broken dreams, that inhabit so many places on our planet.  I am looking forward to this new-year, and its promise of new hope, that we, can all look at each other and see a brighter further as Americans. It is my hope that we, as Americans, can lift ourselves and other out of this quagmire of character assassination and intolerance. 

We’ve hard work to do, bridges to rebuild and wounds to heal. We have, what I believe is solid foundation in the Lenawee GOP. It’s rooted in the bones of our people who long to see a better place for their children and grandchildren.  I want a safe and prosperous Lenawee County, for everyone involved and living here in Lenawee. 

We cannot do this alone! We need the help and support of our friends and neighbors! Not just donations, but also by making a commitment! It could be as simple as joining the PTA, spending family time, reading a book to your children. Let’s talk with your neighbors, not at them. Helping someone you know, or maybe someone you don’t,  even a simple smile and nod to someone you pass on the sidewalk!
